There was a 700% increase in cyber attacks against Israel over the past two days when comparing to the time period before June 12, cybersecurity firm Radware said on Sunday.

The data indicate a “significant escalation in malicious network activity targeting Israeli infrastructure,” the firm said.

“The 700% surge in malicious activity within just two days stems from cyber retaliation operations by Iranian state actors and pro-Iranian hacker groups, including DDoS attacks, infiltration attempts targeting critical infrastructure, data theft, and malware distribution campaigns,” said Ron Meyran, VP of Cyber Threat Intelligence at Radware.

The increase in attacks observed by Radware occurred shortly after the news of Israel’s strikes on Iran became public, the firm said, adding that it saw an increase in activity by “threat actors aligned with Iran on public and private telegram channels.”

Iranian state-sponsored cyber groups are expected to intensify their operations aimed at disrupting infrastructure and psychological influence,” the firm said.

Government websites, financial institutions, telecommunications companies, and critical infrastructure are among the variety of targets for the attacks, the company said.
