BAR HARBOR, Maine (WABI) – The town of Bar Harbor will reopen municipal offices for normal operations tomorrow following a cyber attack last Wednesday. The town office has been closed to ensure the security of their systems.
The town says they have begun bringing their systems back online with the help of a cybersecurity firm who is also leading an independent investigation into the incident. The data collection for the report is 80% complete, according to the town. A final report on the attack could be released as early as next week detailing what information was accessed. Not share further information regarding the incident will be released until the report is finalized.
They say any organizations or persons placed at risk from the breach will be notified directly.
In a statement provided to WABI Thursday morning, the town says “We appreciate the patience of our residents, staff, and businesses. From the start, our priority has been to maintain services and protect our systems.”
