LEWISTON, Maine — Central Maine Healthcare shut down its information technology systems on June 1 after technicians detected unusual activity within its computer network, officials said in a social media post on Monday.
In response to the suspected cybersecurity issue, staff immediately secured and turned off all IT applications and hardware, including network servers and phone systems.
Despite the disruption, Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital, and Rumford Hospital remain open and are continuing to receive and treat patients. Physician offices and outpatient sites also remain operational, according to the post.
Patients may be contacted if elective procedures or office visits need to be rescheduled as a result of the incident.
Central Maine Healthcare said further updates will be provided as they become available.
