The City of Thomasville is investigating a potential cybersecurity incident.City officials said the potential cybersecurity incident could involve its municipal systems.“Upon identification of suspicious activity within the City’s digital infrastructure, immediate action was taken to contain the situation and initiate a thorough investigation,” Deputy City Manager Eddie Bowling said in a news release posted on the city’s site. City officials said they’re also working with IT personnel and third-party cybersecurity experts to “assess the scope and nature of the incident.” They said it’s unclear if any sensitive information was accessed or compromised. City officials said some systems may experience temporary disruptions as “security protocols are strengthened and forensic reviews are completed.”Officials said public safety will continue to operate without interruption. “We take the security of our systems and the privacy of our residents very seriously,” said Michael Brandt, City Manager. “Our top priority is to protect the integrity of our information systems and ensure transparency with the public.”Click the video player above to watch the latest headlines from WXII 12 News.They have also notified state and federal authorities.
