HPE used the stage at Black Hat USA 2025 to announce updates aimed at strengthening enterprise cybersecurity, resilience, and compliance. The rollout spans network security, data protection, and disaster recovery, with integrated capabilities across the company’s portfolio. It also marks the first time HPE is showcasing its combined secure networking offerings since acquiring Juniper Networks.

Unified Networking with AI-Driven Security

HPE Aruba Networking is introducing a new SASE copilot for its EdgeConnect platform, designed to analyze network conditions and provide actionable insights on vulnerabilities, unpatched systems, and suspicious activity. The update extends zero trust policy enforcement beyond HPE hardware, enabling integration with Juniper and third-party devices. Additional enhancements include application-level risk-based policy enforcement, granular IoT device controls, and real-time threat intelligence through WebCC and URL filtering.

Data Protection: Faster Recovery with Built-in Flexibility

HPE also unveiled the Alletra Storage MP X10000 as its latest modern backup and recovery solution. While the product headlines its performance, Victor O’Brien, Public Relations for Hybrid Cloud at HPE, stressed that the design focus goes deeper.

“Modern data protection isn’t just about speed. It’s about flexibility and scalability. With HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000, we’re delivering ultra-fast enterprise backup and recovery, support for AI and analytics workloads, and a disaggregated scale-out architecture that lets enterprises scale storage or compute independently to meet their RTO objectives. Customers can add performance as needed and bring their own data protection partner.”

This architecture allows organizations to increase capacity or performance as demands change, making it especially relevant in industries like healthcare, finance, and media where downtime can have regulatory or contractual consequences. Partner integration is already in place with Commvault Cloud, Cohesity NetBackup, and Veeam Data Platform, giving customers flexibility in how they deploy the system.

Cyber Resilience: Integrating Detection and Recovery

The third pillar of HPE’s announcement centers on Zerto Software and its new integration hub. CrowdStrike is the exclusive launch partner, linking Falcon’s threat detection with Zerto’s recovery capabilities. O’Brien explained, “The integration of CrowdStrike Falcon complements native anomaly detection in HPE Zerto and injects checkpoint tags from critical threats identified by Falcon. That added intelligence allows customers to recover faster and with more precision to a pre-incident point in time. While CrowdStrike is the launch partner, we see potential for integrations across cybersecurity and networking vendors to strengthen resilience.”

This approach is built for scenarios like ransomware containment, where every second counts. The integration means that once a threat is detected, recovery workflows can automatically roll back systems to a verified safe state, limiting the scope of damage and accelerating return to normal operations.

Partner and MSSP Opportunities

HPE also sees the Zerto integration hub as a natural fit for managed service providers and MSSPs looking to deliver cyber recovery-as-a-service. “HPE Zerto is an exceptional foundation for MSPs to deliver cyber recovery-as-a-service using our open APIs or the new integration hub. It simplifies how partners can create cyber intelligence and automate detection and recovery with minimal manual intervention,” O’Brien noted.

This creates an avenue for MSSPs to orchestrate recovery across multiple tenants, standardize incident response, and deliver repeatable, compliance-ready services without heavily customizing each deployment.

HPE is aligning networking, storage, and recovery under a common AI-enabled, zero-trust framework. By unifying these layers and opening them up to integration, HPE is positioning itself as a security and resilience partner not just for enterprises, but also for the ecosystem of technology providers and managed services delivering protection at scale.
