Artificial intelligence was on the menu once again at Black Hat USA today, as Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. rolled out a new, AI-powered copilot for its Aruba Networking platform that’s designed to strengthen cybersecurity, resiliency and compliance.

The Secure Access Service Edge copilot was joined by the launch of a new data protection system for HPE’s Alletra Storage hardware, and an integration hub for HPE Zerto software that aims to enhance system and disaster recovery operations.

HPE said the new SASE copilot for HPE Aruba Networking EdgeConnect, a powerful network firewall, is available from today for all customers, offering AI-driven insights into network activity and security gaps. The release builds upon the launch of HPE GreenLake intelligence and the HPE Aruba Networking Central agentic mesh, which debuted at HPE Discover 2025 in June, which also aim to automate network monitoring.

According to the company, the copilot is trained to analyze network and security conditions continuously, and will pop up with actionable intelligence whenever it spots something of concern. For instance, if it discovers an open port or an unpatched system, it will immediately inform the networking teams responsible so they can investigate further. It will also highlight any security gaps it discovers, and provide an alert for any unusual network activity.

Further aiding network security, HPE Aruba Networking Central NAC, a network access control system for managing secure access to networking resources, has been enhanced. With the update, it can now enforce security policies for HPE Juniper and third-party network components, introducing global identity-based, granular controls for users and devices. It has also been integrated with AppEngine to support real-time application classification and power risk-based policy enforcement with centralized control, HPE said.

Enhanced data protection

To strengthen data resiliency across organizations and protect their most critical information from cybersecurity threats, HPE has built a new data protection system for the HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 platform.

HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 is a software-defined, scale-out storage system that’s designed for scaling large volumes of unstructured data with high performance access. It supports a wide range of storage types, including object storage, and is optimized for data-intensive workloads such as AI and data analytics.

The new data protection system is available now, and enables teams to set “ultra-low recovery point objectives and recovery time objectives,” so they can recover business-critical datasets in a matter of minutes, rather than days, ensuring they can not only maintain business continuity, but also adhere to increasingly strict compliance requirements.

HPE said it delivers data backup speeds of up to 1.2 petabytes per hour, which is almost twice as fast as competing platforms, giving organizations the flexibility to increase data protection capacity, performance or both, according to their needs. It’s powered by HPE’s StoreOnce Catalyst Software, which optimizes storage efficiency with a data reduction ratio of 60:1, enabling more critical data to be backed up via data protection platforms such as Commvault Cloud, Cohesity NetBackup and Veeam Data Platform.

Increased cyber resiliency

Lastly, the company said its HPE Zerto software, a data recovery platform that helps to recover from cyberattacks with minimal data loss, is getting a new integration hub that allows it to play nicely with tools from third-party cybersecurity providers such as CrowdStrike Holdings Ltd.

The integration will launch in the fourth quarter, enabling CrowdStrike’s software – and later that of other cybersecurity firms – to connect with HPE Zerto to simplify disaster recovery operations and generate more insights on any security incidents. According to HPE, the integration enables companies to combine their threat detection and cyber recovery operations for the first time, and will help to minimize the impact of ransomware and other cyberattacks.

The way it works is, CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform will enable security teams to detect malicious activity targeting critical workloads in real time. When a threat is discovered, Falcon can inform HPE Zerto, which will immediately be able to restore applications and their virtual machines to the most recent, clean recovery point – just seconds before the attack started. In this way, any data loss from the attack will be minimized.

“By combining the power of the AI-native Falcon platform with HPE Zerto’s recovery capabilities, we’re enabling organizations to stop breaches, minimize downtime, and maintain business continuity — even in the face of ransomware and other disruptive threats,” said CrowdStrike Chief Business Officer Daniel Bernard.

In addition to enhancing Zerto through integrations, the software is also in the process of being validated and certified for new guidelines affecting U.S. government agencies, such as the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Security Technical Implementation Guides and Federal Information Process Standards rules.

David Hughes, senior vice president and general manager of SASE and Security at HPE Networking, said there’s an ongoing need for more advanced systems that can mitigate risk, defend against attacks and increase resiliency.

“HPE’s security solutions are designed to enable a multi-layered, zero-trust approach to protection, including AI-driven capabilities for continuous validation, anomaly detection and automated remediation,” he promised.
