As of this morning (6/17/2025), both office locations for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office are officially back open and fully operational following last week’s cyber attack.
First and foremost, we want to express our sincere gratitude to Georgia Technologies, whose around-the-clock monitoring was instrumental in protecting our office. Without their 24/7 oversight, this incident could have been catastrophic. Because of their swift action, the attacker(s) were stopped in real time and did not access any active files.
We are especially grateful to Georgia Technologies for their dedicated support throughout this process. They carefully inspected every office computer to ensure system safety. Over the past six months, they have worked to enhance our cybersecurity protections and implemented further improvements following this incident. Their quick response and ongoing efforts were key in getting our offices fully operational again as quickly as possible.
While our offices are now open, our priority was ensuring full system recovery. Thankfully, 100% recovery is possible. From there, the focus now shifts to a thorough investigation to determine exactly what happened and why. It will take time before we have the complete results.
We also want to take this opportunity to thank members of the press for their help in communicating our temporary closure, as well as our partner agencies and the public for their patience and understanding while we worked through this challenge.
Most importantly, we thank our dedicated staff, who continued to show up for court and carry out critical duties, even with limited system access.
We will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
