SSH Communications Security (SSH) announces that it has joined the Beyond the Limits of Post-Quantum Cryptography (BlimPQC) project, which brings together members of the industry, academic research organizations, and key stakeholders from the Finnish government. The goal of the BlimPQC project is to solve cybersecurity challenges posed by quantum computers to ensure quantum-safe connections, key management interoperability, and data security. SSH has the lead for work package 5 for PQC implementations.

SSH’s role in this project is to produce turnkey, easy-to-deploy PQC solutions for critical infrastructure, businesses, and organizations. This allows organizations to protect their current transmissions and data against quantum threats and pave the way for a smooth migration to large-scale quantum-safe communications. SSH focuses on developing encryption and identification systems, key management, and a quantum-safe certificate authority for issuing PQC digital certificates for authentication.

SSH is a forerunner in quantum security, including:

  • Leading a PQC Finland project to advance PQC in Finland in 2020-2022
  • announcing the availability of SSH NQX PQC (Post-Quantum Cryptography) Edition, the first-of-its-kind, high-performance PQC network encryptor NQX in 2021
  • launching a Tectia solution for quantum-safe file transfers in 2021 and a Tectia z/OS PQC Mainframe Edition in 2022
  • Introducing PrivX Privileged Access Management for Quantum-Safe connections in 2022
  • becoming a member of the NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography Building Block Consortium in 2023, paving the way for quantum-safe solutions in the United States, Europe, and Asia
  • announcing PrivX Key Manager PQC Crypto Inventory Insights in 2025

By being a key player in projects like the BlimPQC and NIST PQC Migration Consortium, SSH continues its work to secure and future-proof critical infrastructure, public organizations, and businesses against the quantum threat.

“The time to protect organizations’ most critical transmissions with PQC is now, and it is possible without complex projects or massive investments into hardware. All our solutions implement crypto agility,” states Rami Raulas, CEO of SSH. “For example, our NQX solution can run classical and quantum-safe algorithms side by side and adopt new, improved PQC algorithms as they emerge. Creating dynamic, quantum-safe tunnels between sites, networks, or data centers is very easy, and we guarantee high-performance and low latency in versatile transmission networks.”

In May, SSH and Cinia signed a reseller agreement that will enable both parties to deliver high-security systems and services to a wider range of customers. The agreement covers all SSH solutions, including access management to critical IT and OT resources, high-performance quantum-safe remote data transmissions, password and SSH key management, and encrypted messages, video calls, and emails.
